Angina manifests itself in different ways for different reasons. It is generally characterized by chest pain of other discomfort in that region; it occurs when an area in your heart muscle doesn't receive enough oxygenated blood. It is often a very painful condition that is indicative of another problem. Usually angina is caused by coronary artery disease which is when there is a build-up of plaque on the arterial walls. A Reno Heart physician can usually diagnose this easily, and then present you the options you have for treatment. The treatment for angina generally consists of the following:
EECP therapy is a new noninvasive procedure done by a Nevada heart physician at our cardiology center that helps increase blood flow. Continue reading to learn more about it.
EECP (Enhanced External Counter Pulsation) therapy is a noninvasive procedure that has been proven as a low-risk, effective treatment for angina. Unlike a bypass or angioplasty, EECP doesn't require surgery and is therefore an optimal choice because of the small risk involved.
First, a Reno Heart physician will lay you down on a table where inflation and deflation valves are located. These valves are electronically controlled and connected to adjustable cuffs. These cuffs are then wrapped firmly around the patient's calves, lower thighs, upper thighs, and buttocks.
Following the placement of the cuffs by a Nevada heart physician, they are then inflated rapidly and sequentially, finally resulting in an increased supply of blood to the heart muscle. This treatment has been proven to be safe and effective in patients that could not have been treated via other methods due to complications.
